Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a full-time Release of
Information Representative to work at our Belleville, IL location,
servicing the Metro East and St. Louis, MO areas.

Receive and prepare incoming and outgoing requests for client
records. Process correspondence and staff notifications according
to prescribed procedures. Prepare correspondence and materials from
draft and final copies using Word.
Handle subpoenas, court orders, and depositions efficiently and
timely as received. Work with support management, the QA/QI team,
and legal team to complete legal correspondence requests.
Review electronic clinical documentation as required to assure
accuracy and completion.
Review electronic stored disclosures to monitor expiration and
assist with updating.
Review all outgoing information to assure any disclosures required
are on file and valid including a review to assure no HIPPA
protected information is included.
Adhere to regulations, laws, and standards (HIPAA, 42 CFR, HRSA,
Confidentiality Act, and Chestnut Health Systems policy/procedures)
when completing requests for information with outside entities.
Review and log correspondence requests, keeping accurate records
for all correspondence requests.
Scan and attach necessary documentation to the electronic client
Handle management of paper documents that must be scanned and
attached to the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) using agency
scanning solution in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintain order in the dedicated storage area to assure adequate
workspace. When necessary, arrange for moving of boxes with
Maintenance staff, and shredding processes.
File all information in accordance with Medical Records
Assist with utilization review and quality improvement activities
Participate in ongoing trainings and/or meetings to stay abreast of
changing policies/procedures and any funding or
licensure/certification regulations that would apply.
Operate a variety of office equipment including copier/printers,
scanners, and a fax.
Maintain a well-organized and orderly work area to assist staff
working all shifts.
Use a teamwork approach when working through tasks with other

Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with three
(3) years’ experience in handling the distribution and collection
of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Advanced knowledge of standard office procedures and use of office
equipment (i.e., filing, word processing, and ability to operate
copier, fax, and scanning equipment) required.
Excellent communication and customer services skills along with
great interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail,
and discretion with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act(HIPAA) and other confidential information required.
Knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR, Health Resources and Services
Administration (HRSA), Confidentiality Act, subpoenas and court
