Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intermediate Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Must have active Illinois license to apply Certifications: ACLS and BLS required Must-Have: - Required work setting experience includes MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown. - Required skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, both on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring. - Required cardiovascular case skills and experience include care after cardiac angiogram, myocardial infarction, pre/post cardiac catheterization, pre/post cardiac surgery, sheath removal, and TR band. - Required gastrointestinal case skills and experience include feeding tube care and management. - Required genitourinary/renal case skills and experience include pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure. - Required IV therapy and phlebotomy skills/experience include accessing ports, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central/ peripheral/PICC line management, as well as starting IVs. - Required medication skills/experience include following heparin protocols and managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, including no titration, PCA, and titration protocols. - Required neurological/psychiatric case skills/experience include stroke (CVA). - Experience with surgical drains is required. - Required respiratory case skills/experience include managing chest tubes, external CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, and oxygen face masks, as well as non-invasive airway management. - Required professional topics and skills include isolation precautions and wound care. - Previous charge experience is preferred. - Experience with electronic charting is required. - Teaching hospital experience is preferred. - Level I trauma experience is preferred. Description: This position is for a registered nurse in an intermediate care specialty. The nurse will work a 12-hour day shift. The average daily census on the unit is 38 patients. The nurse must work every other weekend. First-time travelers are accepted. Floating to like units may be required as needed to meet facility needs. The schedule may accommodate requests, but they must be discussed with the manager. It is preferred that candidates do not have more than 5 days of requested time off. If a candidate is placed on-call instead of being called off, it will count as a called-off shift. Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Background checks will be conducted prior to hiring. All required certifications must be valid before applying. Candidates will complete necessary compliance and onboarding requirements promptly.
