Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of Level 1 ICU experience required. License: Valid state license required at the time of submission. Certifications: BLS, ACLS required. Must-Have: Critical care experience. Inpatient experience. Dysrhythmia recognition and management. Blood product administration. Phlebotomy and starting IVs. Experience with IV vasopressors and ICP monitoring. Care of ventilated patients. Description: This position involves working in a Post Anesthesia Care Unit. The average daily census ranges from 70 to 90 patients. The unit consists of 38 patient bays and operates 24/7. Staff members are needed for the recovery of a diverse array of acute post-operative patients. Critical care experience is required since some patients may require artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs. Surgical patient recovery includes various specialties such as neurosurgery, orthopedics, trauma, and others. Open heart surgeries and liver transplants are not included in this recovery process. Nights shifts require learning how to work up pre-operative patients. The patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients. Candidates may be required to float within the hospital to meet facility needs. Orientation involves 40 hours of training.
