Job Title: OR Tech Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Surgical Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 5x8 (06:45 - 15:15) Experience: Minimum of 3 years required License: Must have appropriate state license in hand Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Must have experience in Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) procedures such as endoscopic sinus procedures, direct laryngoscopy, and various surgical techniques. Experience in general surgery including appendectomy and cholecystectomy is required. Gynecology skills in bilateral tubal ligation and dilation & curettage are necessary. Orthopedic case experience including ACL reconstruction and total knee replacement is essential. Plastic surgery skills in abdominoplasty and breast augmentation are required. Podiatry experience including bunionectomy is necessary. Urology case skills, including circumcision and cystoscopy, are also required. Proficiency with various equipment and instrumentation, including drills and electrosurgical units, is essential. Knowledge of fire safety and professional skills in aseptic techniques, isolation precautions, laser safety, and universal protocol is required. Description: The position requires an OR Tech to work in a surgical environment. The applicant will be responsible for assisting in various surgical cases across multiple specialties including ENT, general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, podiatry, and urology. Floating to different areas within the facility may be required depending on case volumes. Candidates must be able to handle on-call duties as needed, and may work late if procedures run over time. It is essential to have a solid understanding of surgical procedures and the ability to maintain aseptic technique at all times. Candidates should be proficient in the handling and labeling of specimens. The role involves ensuring safety protocols are observed and participating in the timeout procedure before surgeries. Candidates will need to comply with all necessary regulations and requirements to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. The environment is fast-paced and requires effective communication and teamwork skills.
