    Hours:

    • Full Time
    • Your shifts would typically be Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, but this could vary, and you may need to work a little earlier/later as needed.



      Requirements:

      • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
      • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
      • Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License required
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
      • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
      • Must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States
      • Experience working in ICU, Critical Care and/or PACU is strongly preferred
      • Pre-admission testing experience preferred


        JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse, Assessment / Pre-Admission Testing
        REPORTS TO: Nurse Manager
        FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt


        POSITION SUMMARY

        • Demonstrates quality patient service during interactions with patients, coworkers, and vendors.
        • Exhibits a positive attitude and is flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities.

          ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

          • Utilize a computer database to obtain and document information on surgical patients.
          • Conduct a phone assessment of each surgical patient to obtain medical and medication history.
          • Evaluate patients for allergies and reconcile with pre-operative eye drops.
          • Communicate with Surgery Schedulers regarding patient needs and pre-surgical paperwork.
          • Communicate with Primary Care Physicians, Cardiologists, Oncologists, etc. to obtain necessary information for appropriate medical evaluation pre-operatively.
          • Communicate directly with the Anesthesia staff and Surgeons to ensure all questions regarding pre-operative patients are answered prior to surgery to ensure a smooth schedule.
          • Other duties as assigned.

              EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

                LANGUAGE SKILLS / COMPUTER SKILLSTo perform this job successfully, an individual will need to:

                • Become proficient in the use of both NextGen and ModMed databases
                • Have proficiency in Microsoft Word
                • Be able to operate printer, copier, telephone, and fax
                • Have knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment



                  PHYSICAL DEMANDS
                  The employee must be able to:

                  • Walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time
                  • Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
                  • Occasionally be able to push up to an excess of 200 pounds
                  • Occasionally be able to pull/ lift patients with the assistance of other personnel and or assistive devices, up to an excess of 400-500 pounds
                  • Occasionally be able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb



                    ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS

                    • Regular exposure to blood and body substances
                    • Exposure to needle sticks possible



                      WORKING CONDITIONS

                      • Works in well-lit and ventilated surroundings including pre-operative/PACU areas, Nurses' stations, procedure rooms, lounge, etc.
                      • May occasionally be exposed to outside environment
