Primary Role

**This position can report to any office location within the Illinois American Water footprint.

This position is responsible for managing activities concerned with the delivery of asset management related projects, managing technology implementations, and being a "product owner" for operational technology programs, which are of critical importance to Company objectives.


Key Accountabilities

  • Monitoring and managing training and support needs of the Collection, Production & Distribution operations teams.
  • Delivery and management of assigned technology tools and updates to the Illinois team.
  • As a Product Owner, interacts with Technology & Innovation and business partners to ensure technology implementation and programs are meeting business needs; and enhancements are being prioritized and managed in a transparent and structured manner.


    • Computer literacy. Strong skills in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, flow- charting, project scheduling.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills (e.g., presentation, listening, report writing).
    • Financial analysis skills, including budget management and comprehensive accounting knowledge.
    • Strong team-working skills and ability to manage/produce in a culturally and geographically diverse, multi-company, matrix organization.
    • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
    • Core professional competence in Service Delivery, Operations and Maintenance, and Capital Investment as it relates to water/wastewater resource facilities.
    • Experience with current water distribution tools- GIS mapping; Hydraulic Modelling; CMMS, etc.


      • 2 years of experience in operational support, database support, project management.
      • Bachelor's Degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted.

        Certifications & Licenses

        • Valid Driver's License with clean MVR.
        • Water and/or Wastewater state license preferred.

          Work Environment

          • Working in the field and offices with various work groups across Illinois.

            Travel Requirements

            • 40% or more.
