Job Description Job Description Job Summary: The Program
Coordinator for Academic Engagement supports the Director in
fostering an engaged campus environment and sense of community for
all students. This role focuses on programmatic coordination,
direct student support, and operational management to enhance
retention, persistence, and completion for first- and second-year
students. The Program Coordinator plays a vital role in
implementing initiatives like the Bridge Academy, First-Year
Experience (FYE), and Second-Year Experience (SYE) programs,
ensuring students receive academic support throughout their college
journey. Essential Functions: Assist with the development,
organization, and execution of FYE and SYE programs, including the
Bridge Academy and Hornet Success Program. Coordinate day-to-day
operations for Fall Convocation in collaboration with the Director.
Manage logistics for FYE/SYE events, workshops, and programs,
including scheduling, promotion, and evaluation. Serve as a liaison
to key campus departments (e.g., Academic Success, TRiO, Career
Engagement) to facilitate academic and co-curricular support for
students. Provide one-on-one support to a caseload of students,
ensuring individualized academic planning and engagement. Assist in
the recruitment, training, and supervision of Peer Mentors. Collect
and maintain program data for assessment, tracking outcomes, and
reporting purposes. Monitor early alert submissions and triage
cases based on urgency and risk level. Collaborate with the
Director on marketing and outreach efforts, including social media,
email campaigns, and campus communications. Become well-versed in
the University Bulletin and assist students in navigating and
understanding its contents. Support initiatives to build a
welcoming campus environment. Represent the department in campus
meetings, committees, and student events. Learn and use the
Jenzabar and other electronic systems that house student data.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the
office and university. Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s
degree in Education, Student Affairs, Psychology, or a related
field required; Master’s degree preferred, not required. Minimum
one year of experience in student programming, academic support, or
a related field. Experience working with diverse student
populations Proficiency in MS Office Suite, data collection tools,
and social media platforms. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong organizational and project management skills, with an
ability to prioritize and multitask. Excellent verbal and written
communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a
fast-paced, team-oriented, and culturally diverse environment.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with
students, staff, and faculty. Knowledge of student development
theories and practices in retention and persistence. Experience
with program assessment and data analysis. Commitment to fostering
a culture of belonging. Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise Peer
Mentors and provide guidance for student staff members. Physical
Requirements: May involve extended periods of sitting, using a
computer, and light lifting. Must be mobile throughout the campus
to attend meetings and events. Working Conditions and Environment:
Primarily office-based with occasional evening or weekend events.
Minimal exposure to physical risks.
